TARDI has been empowering the next generation of agricultural leaders across the Eastern Cape, providing young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to transform rural communities. By combining rigorous academic excellence with immersive, hands-on training, we ensure that every graduate is not only workplace-ready but also equipped to tackle real-world challenges.
From day one, our students gain practical experience working with livestock, conducting field diagnostics and engaging with farming communities, preparing them to make a measurable and lasting impact on both the agricultural sector and the socio-economic development of their regions.
Established in 1904, TARDI has evolved into a modern center of excellence that combines academic learning with practical, hands-on training. We are committed to developing skilled professionals who can serve rural communities, support farmers and strengthen South Africa’s agricultural sector.
At TARDI, our students do more than study, they serve, lead and build.
Through our fully accredited Diploma in Animal Health (NQF Level 6), they provide primary animal health support, assist farmers with disease prevention, and help improve livestock productivity and food security.
Our on-campus animal health clinic serves surrounding rural communities, giving students real-world clinical exposure while delivering accessible primary veterinary care where it is needed most.
Beyond clinical training, we nurture entrepreneurship and leadership. Through student organisations such as Enactus, learners are encouraged to develop community-driven projects and launch small enterprises while still studying, creating sustainable income opportunities and practical business experience.
We remain committed to staying at the forefront of developments in agriculture and animal health.
We strive to exceed expectations in quality, service, responsiveness and academic delivery.
We believe collective effort achieves greater impact than individual work alone.
We value diversity, professionalism and respect in all our engagements.
We uphold transparency, ethical conduct and accountability in all we do.
We are committed to fairness and equal opportunity in education and service delivery.
